reflections in light

Grassroots organizing is praised on Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, we remember the bus boycotts and state to state marches. It’s often praised when another nation is doing it on our timeline and we can Tweet solidarity. Remember before lock down how many nations were assembling around justice?

2020 in Los Angeles started in solidarity with Iran and Iraq against a new war, and then students organizing against big banks’ funding of big oil, with students also giving thanks in four directions across the city. With no instructions, many in the city then gathered at the Staples Center for Kobe, Gianna and the 7 others taken too soon.

We should learn from history, but we can also learn from now as we’re writing the history for today’s story. As AI and cryptocurrency continue to provide new means of assembly and connection, can we use these tools to improve our collective hum?
