half way…

In recent news, the IERS is confirming the Earth is spinning faster. We may have all had this hunch previously, even joking with our friends and family about the time moving quicker than before. The graphs are quite interesting to look at.

With time speeding up, is that why we feel an urgency to rush about, to chase all of the new goodies being released and to consume all of the new experiences our society is about to embrace? Whether you’re one who enjoys the luxury or one who enjoys the silence, our society is at a merging point. We all feel it, yet…are we taking steps in solidarity to manifest different than that dooms day feeling?

Sometimes, it feels as though us humans chain ourselves off from following the natural way. We grow with one another, but often our linking is due to the theory of climbing. We’re taught early on to climb the ladders, whether in sports or the classroom, we’re trained to gaze at the top…idolizing stories of the “old way.”

If we only had a limited time on Earth, if truly, the Earth rapidly starting increasing and was going to throw us into the far reaches of space (we wouldn’t make it of course), but if we knew that was coming would we do something different everyday, would we live out a new story that we currently think is impossible? Would we communicate a little more friendly, and see that one who we thought was beneath us or above us is just another human being who will get thrown from this delicate place our feet call home too? A gravity keeps us here, so would a fear be a uniting factor and gravitate us all towards more compassionate care…for ourselves and our other fellow human beings…and our global home? Would we instantly see the fragility of the ecosystem that provides us air, light and produce to eat? Would we see the cruelty of disconnection between us and the source of where our “needs” are being quickly met? An assembly line life we acquired, we may not have visualized that this is what we craved, but society wanted fast goods, cheap goods….on demand goods.

With the acceleration of society pushing for mass produced goods, generations have been raised to ignore the barriers we ourselves put in front ourselves. We only believe there is “one way.” The weaving of nature works together in unison. From the roots beneath our feet breaking down nutrients for the leaves that we see as we walk the streets, to the branches on plants and trees moving to give light to their lower branches, in time we see each branch reaches their place in the sun. Can we as human work together, in unison? Each light needs the light and air the breathe, so why do we work in so much competition into the human story?

Maybe we’ll go back to slower paces in Earth’s rotations, or maybe we’ll get flung into places in space where our gravity won’t pull us back. Whichever way, it’s a good time to start building a new human story. Beyond our technology advancing, globally we’ve had a reset. Now, we’re half way through the year, and almost half way to a new Presidential election. Will we write a new story or will we all continue to condone the rapidly produced society that tells us to keep climbing?
